Malt whisky lovers should keep an eye out for the new offerings being released by the reputable Cadenhead firm under their 'Duthies' label. Mr Duthie was the nephew of William Cadenhead and ran William Cadenhead Ltd from 1904 until his untimely death in 1931. He was also the person most responsible for building the reputation of Cadenhead's as a bottler of single malts and rum. The Duthies 'Copper Still' collection presently includes independent bottlings of Auchentoshan 19 YO, Caol Ila 13 YO, Cragganmore 15 YO, Glen Grant 13 YO (Sherry wood matured), Glen Scotia 17 YO and Mortlach 16 YO (also exclusively matured in Sherry wood). All the whiskies have been non chill filtered with no colouring added.

Tasting note: Pale gold colour with very pale straw hue. The nose is shy and soft yet nevertheless enticing, gradually yielding a delightful range of aromas - prunes, quince paste, dried apricots and vanillan malt above a lightly smokey, spicy background. The palate delivers similar ripe fruit and spice characteristics before the smokiness kicks in. Perfect balance. Subtle aftertaste of dried fruits, fennel and spice. Always nice to see a new bottling from this once great distilling centre - especially when they're as captivating as this. 46% Alc./Vol.
