Diplome Dry Gin (700ml)

Dijon, FRANCE
$89. 99
Bottle
$1079.88 Dozen
ABV: 44%

An historical “London Dry”, relaunched in 2013 and made in Dijon, a French city known and respected world-wide for its cuisine. Diplome's recipe was perfected in 1945 during World War II and uses botanicals from Europe and Morocco, including juniper berries, coriander, whole lemons, orange peel, angelica, saffron, iris root, fennel seed and a delightful infusion of lavender. As a testament to the success of the original formula, after the war, Diplôme became the official gin for the American Army stationed throughout Europe.

Tasting note: Clear. Excellent lift with a pungent blend of peppercorns, coriander seed, dried juniper, lavender and thyme. Second pass drops in intensity but introduces hints of cardamom, lemon peel and pine. Medium dry on entry followed by a full-bodied, concentrated herb and peel attack and a piney, woody, juniper accented finish. Solid length. Expressive and well integrated. 44% Alc./Vol.

Other reviews... ...a faint breeze of pine. On the palate, the juniper-pine note comes forward, along with a marshmallow sweetness, though it finishes with citrus chased by earthy anise and black pepper. 91 points- winenthusiast.com
