World Whisky Of The Year – World Whisky Magazine ‘World Whisky Awards 2017’

Craigellachie is noted for their full bodied and slightly sulphurous malts used primarily to add punch to blends. In 2015, Bacardi decided to release a selection of age statements. The entire range received instant praise with the highpoint being this year's award for the 31 Year Old.

In the judges words: "You can really feel the high ABV on the nose, but it doesn’t transfer onto the palate. The texture is rather dry and almost chalky, with initial nectarine flavours giving way to pepperoni before a green, hoppy, beery character comes in on the long finish. There’s a hint of bonfire in there too." We have one only to sell. Very good to excellent condition with minor chipping at the base of the presentation box.

Other reviews... The Craigellachies just keep on coming. This, the oldest of the new Original Bottling range, is the most fiercely priced. It shows balanced and slightly restrained mature notes—think of candle wax and waxed leather. Some fruit syrups, clementine, and honey then follow. The palate is thick—the distillery’s worm tubs having an effect—giving floral accents and a hint of barbecued pineapple. Not the heaviest of the range, but delicious.
