This small family operated winery was established in North Eastern Victoria by William Chambers in 1858 and is now operated by fifth generation winemaker Bill Chambers. The non-irrigatcd vines, many of which are over 80 years old, produce low yields with wonderful concentrated flavours. The Rutherglen 'Special' Tokay was made using a 1929 base wine. It has the colour and smell of blackstrap molasses with elegant texture and balance. The aged wine in this blend contributes to the long mouth-lingering flavours of prune, molasses and raspberry with hints of thyme, hazelnut, walnut and coffee. The Rutherglen 'Special' Tokay can age a further 40 to 50 years after bottling as it is an extraordinarily rich and intense wine as young and old have been blended and aged together in oak. 18.0% Alcohol Volume. 375ml bottle.
