Nick Glaetzer began his winemaking journey with his family in the Barossa Valley, following with vintages in the Languedoc, the Pfalz, Margaret River, the Riverland, Sunraysia, the Hunter Valley and Burgundy. In 2005 Nick landed in Tasmania, searching for cool-climate, super-premium vineyards; perfect for crafting Pinot Noir, Riesling and savoury Shiraz.
While working in the Pfalz wine region of Germany, Nick was converted to the local method of selecting the harvest date of riesling grapes based on their acid content and structure ‒ rather than the traditional Australian manner of harvesting on sugar concentration and grape flavour. These grapes then ferment into riesling wines with delicate citrus flavours and aromas, compared to the tropical spectrum of a riper harvest.
The mid-palate structure of GDF riesling is invigorated by sur lie ageing, which involves keeping the finished wine on ferment lees for 6-18 months.

Has more weight and gravitas than its siblings, but the same balance and length: it's a crying shame that I don't methodically lay down the Hahndorf Hill grüners for a decade or so to watch their development, giving the same reward as fine rieslings. Drink by 2030.

Sourced from three high altitude Eden Valley blocks, winemaker Andrew Quin has produced a stunning Riesling that’s bursting with flavour. The 2021 vintage saw below average daytime temperatures and cool nights, ideal ripening conditions for Riesling, allowing for extended and even flavour development. This resulted in wines that possess combination of high natural acidity and fantastic power.

A super intense, power packed Eden Valley Riesling.

Brilliant water like colour with a distinct tinge of green running around the outskirts. Powering the nose are intense lime and citrus fruits with notions of orange rind, talc and subtle flinty mineral scents also chiming in. It is what it is: the chardonnay you should buy, for any night of the week, for any occasion. It’s chardonnay in a style that somehow manages to straddle various streams; it’s an arthouse chardonnay that crosses over into the mainstream. It does because it has flavour but it also has drive; it’s fresh and zippy but its stonefruit-and-apple flavours have bite. It’s the Yarra Valley with a nod to Chablis in a way; it has that easy I-don’t-need-to-try-too-hard confidence. There’s oak but it’s not boosted by it. There’s flavour but it’s chalky and taut. It is in short a gift that keeps on giving. Drink 2023-2028+

Located between Beechworth and Wangaratta, the Indigo Vineyard has 46 hectares planted to 12 different varieties of grapes. The vineyard soils range from granitic sands to clay loams. Most of the vineyard is undulating North-South and East facing which ensures maximum light interception, but minimises the harsh afternoon summer sun.
The fruit for this wine was tipped directly into an air bag press, gently squeezed and racked to tank for fermentation with the pressings kept separate to avoid adding pink colours to the wine. After ferment the pressings were added back to the blend. The wine then spent 3 months on yeast lees for added texture.
Brilliant very pale straw colour with a watery hue. Delightful pear, red apple and subtle lime scents fill the nostrils with a faint whiff of dried honey and spice also evident. Let’s get past the big question… there’s not much smoke issue here for me. A touch of bitterness in the finish, a little smoky acrid tang in the mid palate, nothing up front or in perfume. We get a delicious white wine around all that, zingy with acidity, lemon squeezed on fresh stone fruit feel, some light, creamy nougat notes softening around that fruit character. Length is a little shorter than the usual whites of Sorrenberg, but freshness is here in spades. Yes, drink younger, but this is a real delight in the glass as it stands. Drink 2021 - 2023.
