Diageo 2021 Special Releases

The eight whiskies making up Diageo's 2021 collection are very much a continuation of the past few years - which is a good thing, and especially good news for Oban, Talisker and Lagavulin fans (the latter two are typically the bargains in the range). Stalwarts like Cardhu and Mortlach make for stereotypical Speyside entries, and if you're looking high-end, there's a massive age statement from Lagavulin. Officially released in the UK in October 2021, the annual range was curated by Master Blender, Craig Wilson. This year, outurns are not disclosed, except for the Laga' 26. Compared to previous instalments, the average age statement has declined, but prices are accessible. There's also a noticeable difference in presentation. The theme this time round is "Legends Untold", inspired by the Scottish terrain and the lochs and the rugged highlands and the 'mythical' beings that dwell there. Diageo have even created a “multi-sensory experience” to accompany each dram which you can access by scanning the QR code on the each box or tube. You can listen to stories, as read by Scottish actors Lorne MacFadyen and SIobhan Redmond, accompanied by imagery from acclaimed digital artist, Ken Taylor.
