Black Gate Distillery Single Cask #BG008 Single Malt Australian Whisky (500ml)

If you can't get by without a bottle of Black Gate about the house, be warned, this is their last release until September 2017. The new batch 8 was matured for three years in a small 100L sherry cask with an outturn of just 211 bottles. As usual, our allocation is very limited.

Tasting note: Brilliant brassy gold with good legs. Semi-sweet rum-like aromas at first followed by typical sherried notes including dried apricot, fruit cake, vanilla malt, cinnamon and pepper. Intense bittersweet entry is slightly lean and acidic; mid palate fills out with flavours of brittle toffee apple, spicy Christmas pudding and a controlled warming spirit surge. Finish really rallies with mouthcoating sugars, cocoa and dried fruits carrying the aftertaste. A remarkable, youthful sherried malt that gets better with every sip. 50% Alc./Vol.
