2019 Water Wheel Baringhup 5 Rounds Shiraz

Rich & intense with a liqueur like texture.

Sourced from Water Wheel's new vineyard located 40km south of their winery near Maldon. Still beside the Loddon River, the soils here are rich in red clay and the climate a little cooler. A third of the wine was matured in new American oak for 2 years. Impenetrable inky black colour with a deep dark purple black hue. Heady dark plum, liquorice and black cherry aromatics mix with toasty vanillin oak and spice. Full bodied, very rich and opulently textured the palate is swamped with lavish black cherry, liquorice and blackberry fruits with toasty vanillin oak and spice characters then moving in. Ripe chewy tannins add some firmness to the finish. A burst of blackpepper makes an appearance on the long decadent aftertaste.
Drink over the next 5-6 years.
