2019 Shinshu Mars Distillery Komagatake Limited Edition Single Malt Japanese Whisky (700ml)

The exact number of bottles released isn't known, but like its 2018 predecessor, this 2019 limited edtion was likely an outturn of around 10,000 bottles. It's another youthful Komagatake that includes malt whiskies that have spent at least three years in x Bourbon and several other kinds of casks. Like last years, this one's aged entirely at Shinshu. Being the highest elevated distillery in Japan, the temperature variations here can be dramatic. It helps the spirit to cycle in and out of the oak, accelerating the rate of maturation. Official notes say to expect aromas and flavours of "kaki fruit, apricot and orange marmalade followed by sweetened condensed milk, a soft mouthfeel and a clean smooth finish." It comes non-chill filtered and at a slightly higher ABV than many previous Komagatakes. 48% Alc./Vol.
