2019 Nicks Secret McLaren Vale Cabernet Sauvignon

Thanks mostly to the demise of Chinese exports, the Australian market has been awash with mystery labels and secret deals that are predominately made up of cancelled export orders and labels that are exclusive to the Chinese market or rarely seen on our shores. Whilst we prefer our offers to be completely transparent without any mystique, the caveat on this deal was that we could not reveal its identity – given it’s pedigree, exceptional quality and heavily discounted price it was another opportunity not to be missed. 

This is the real deal – you will receive the genuine article not an unknown brand, export label or cleanskin. 

Whilst we can’t reveal its identity here are some clues:

-              It’s the same brand as the 2018 Nicks Secret McLaren Vale Shiraz 

-              For what it’s worth it scored 98 points with Winestate magazine 

A substantial Cabernet that combines both richness and concentration with a robust structure.

Matured in French oak for 20 months of which 30% was new. Magnificent density of colour – inky black at its core with a deep dark red black hue. Showing great lift out of the glass are enticing ripe blackcurrant scents which combine with some liquorice, vanillin cedar, tobacco, dried herbs and spice. Engulfing the dense, full bodied palate are rich blackcurrant and liquorice fruits which are backed by a firm tannin structure. Vanillin cedar, scorched earth, tobacco and spice characters fill out the substantial back half. Opulent yet robust mouthfeel showing superb power with a long chewy aftertaste.
