Based in Ligny-les-Chatel on the northern fringe of the Chablis appellation, Domaine Garnier & Fils has been family owned since 1789 with brothers Jerome and Xavier Garnier currently overseeing the winemaking and management. Jerome works the vineyards, while Xavier makes the wines, and together they are leading a group of newer producers finding their voice in the northern most part of Chablis. Organic farming is practiced in the vineyards, and fermentation occurs with natural yeasts before the wines are matured in a mix of very large barrels and stainless steel tanks.

This Chablis comes from vineyards in Maligny, Ligny, and Villy, where there is a mixture of stony chalk with a little marl so the wines have more obvious minerality and rounded notes on the palate. Maturation takes place in stainless steel tanks for a period of 12 months.

Bright pale straw to straw colour with greenish tinged edges and a watery hue. Lifted pear, ripe peach and dried honey aromas intermingle with hints of citrus and subtle wet stone end notes. Beautifully shaped the palate features mouthfilling flavours of ripe pear, peach and dried honey which overlay delicate notions of salted butter and wet stone. Finishes with good freshness and a generously rounded aftertaste. Great value.
Drink over the next 2-3 years.
