2019 Boekenhoutskloof The Chocolate Block

A blend of 71% Syrah, 11% Grenache, 9% Cinsault, 8% Cabernet Sauvignon and 1% Viognier. Totally opaque black dark red colour with a deep dark red hue. Nosing reveals dark plum, liquorice and dark raspberry aromas with hints of smoky vanillin cedar, earth, dried herbs and pepper also evident. The generous medium bodied palate is layered with rich dark plum, liquorice and dark raspberry fruits which overlay a back drop of scorched earth, tobacco, vanillin cedar, spicy dried herbs and pepper. Fleshy mouthfeel with fine grained tannins that are sturdy yet polished in their feel. Long spicy dark fruited aftertaste.
Drink over the next 5-6 years.
