First produced in the year 2000, this the seventeenth release of Oliver’s HJ Shiraz. Fruit is sourced from the very best parcels of fruit on the Old Block vineyard planted in 1948 by HJ Oliver. Maturation took place in French oak (35% new) for a period of 18 months.
Impenetrable inky black in colour with a very deep dark red black hue. Sailing out of the glass are decadent aromas of ripe blackberry, dark plum, liquorice and dark chocolate which mingle with toasty vanillin oak, earth and spice. Extravagantly rich, fabulously concentrated and powerful, the palate is drenched in lavish blackberry, liquorice and dark plum fruit. Vanillin oak, mocha, subtle earth and spice fill out the back half. Dense and voluptuously textured it has velvety yet structured tannins, nicely balanced acidity and finishes exceptionally long, deep and opulent.
Drink over the next 6-8 years.
Alc. 14.5%
