Saperavi is native to Georgia and their most popular grape variety. It is one of the few grape varieties that has red flesh, most red grape varieties having a clear flesh garnering their colour from the skins. Being from a warmer climate, Australian Saperavi are typically more forward and opulent than those produced in Georgia.
Matured in a combination of French and American oak for 8 months. Totally opaque black dark red colour with a deep dark red hue. A mixture of liquorice, black cherry and black plum aromas jump out of the glass followed by subtle vanillin cedar and spicy fresh herb notes. Full and rich the palate is awash with black cherry, liquorice and black plum fruits which have a fleshy feel. Ripe sturdy tannins firm up the finish. Elements of earth, vanillin spice and dried herbs make an appearance on the extended conclusion.
