Established in 1975, this little known estate is one Heathcote’s oldest and along with Jasper Hill and Mt Ida was one of the pioneering vineyards of the region. Further plantings were made in 1996, the dry grown vines from both vineyards now well established with deep roots in the mineral rich Cambrian soil. Winemaking is undertaken by the talented Mark Hunter from Sanguine Estate and maturation takes place in French oak barriques for a period of 17 months.

A rich, black fruited Heathcote Shiraz that showcases the regions trademark depth and power.

Impenetrable inky black heart with a deep black dark red hue. Intoxicating scents of liquorice, black cherry and blackberry waft from the glass with notions of vanillin oak, fennel, scorched earth and pepper also chiming in. Rich and full, the palate has a luxurious feel with succulent liquorice, black cherry and blackberry fruits delivered with both power and opulence. Vanillin oak, lightly scorched earth, fennel and blackpepper characters lie underneath. Sturdy tannins take on a velvet like appearance beneath the waves of lush black fruit. Slightly chewy in its feel it concludes long and sumptuous.
Drink over the next 5-6 years.
