Scotchmans Hill’s first vintage was in 1986 and since then they have gone on to become one of Bellarine Peninsula’s leading wineries. The 2017 Chardonnay was matured in new to 4 year old French barriques for 12 months. Brilliant pale straw colour with a watery hue. Intense ripe white peach, nectarine and dried honey scents blossom out of the glass with hints of clove like cedar, lemon butter, nougat and spice also present. Rich and creamy in its textural feel yet also remarkably fresh the palate is filled with ripe white peach, nectarine and dried honey flavours which meld into complexing elements of gun flint, subtle spicy clove like cedar and spicy nougat. Finishes dry with good balanced, vibrant acidity. Terrific depth with a long fleshy white peach, nectarine, dried honey, citrusy nougat, subtle clove, spicy cedar and gun flint aftertaste.
Drink over the next 4-5 years.
