Totally opaque black dark red core with a dark red hue. Aromas of dark plum and liquorice are overlaid by distinctive dried clove notes with elements of smoky vanillin cedar, some meatiness and pepper also chiming in. The fresh light to medium bodied palate is elegantly flavoured with plum, cherry and subtle liquorice fruit which is intermeshed with dried clove, smoky oak and light peppered meat characters. Slightly dryish finish, vibrant acidity and tannins that are a touch chalky. Medium length aftertaste.
Cellar 5-6 years.
Alc. 13.2%

Other Reviews…..
100% whole bunches were open-fermented, pressed to second-use French oak for 13 months. Even in the very cool vintage, the grapes achieved an elegant ripeness without green streaks. A lover of 15.5% alcohol Barossa shiraz will likely spit this out, but so what. Drink by 2032.
