Cellar: 8 - 10 Years (2028-2030)

While the history of the Inglenook estate dates back to 1873, the modern rejuvenation of the property began when Francis Ford Coppola purchased a portion of the vineyards in 1975. He vowed to reunite the various parcels of land, along with the historic Chateau, and restore the reputation Inglenook enjoyed earlier in its life. With input from esteemed Bordeaux consultant Stephane Derenoncourt, and Philippe Bascaules (Chateau Margaux), Inglenook is now firmly one of the leading properties in Napa Valley.

A blend of 93% Cabernet Sauvignon, 5% Cabernet Franc, 1% Merlot and 1% Petit Verdot matured for 18 months in French oak of which 50% was new. Pitch black heart with a deep bright dark red black hue. Heady scents of ripe blackcurrant, black cherry and liquorice rise out of the glass followed by a whiff of blueberry, vanillin cedar, light dried herb and spice notes. Rich blackcurrant, liquorice and ripe blueberry fruits are cast across the medium bodied palate underscored by a sturdy yet finely woven tannin framework. Elements of vanillin cedar, faint earth, subtle bay leaf and spice are also evident. Refined feel with plenty of underlying freshness and a long, elegant aftertaste.
Cellar 8-10 years.
Alc. 14%

Other Reviews....
Aromas of currants, blackberries and violets follow through to a medium body and firm, tight tannins that give it length and structure. This needs time to soften. Better after 2022.

The 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon is rich and boisterous in feel, with good energy and terrific balance for the year. Sweet floral notes, blood orange and spice add shades of nuance to a core of dark red berry fruit. More than anything else, though, I am very pleasantly surprised by the wine's freshness and overall energy.
