2017 Giovanni Rosso Langhe Nebbiolo

Dark red coloured core with black tinged edges and a light red to brick red hue. Fragrant rose petal, red cherry, light red raspberry, earth, tobacco, subtle dried herb and crushed rock scents emanate from the glass. Light to medium weight yet robust in its feel, delicious red fruits are backed by stern tannins and vibrant fresh acidity. Elements of earth, light tobacco, fresh herbs and spice are also evident. Dry grippy finish with a rustic medium to long aftertaste.

Plenty of flavour here, and a fair amount of Serralunga character too. Dark cherry, red fruit, liquorice, some earth/clay aromatics, plus a little spice. It’s fleshy, plump in fruit, even flow, a good mix of bass and treble, a bit of ‘mineral’ to the acidity, fine powdery tannin, and some oomph on the finish. Heaps of enjoyment in the glass. Drink 2019-2028.
