Montee de Tonnerre is one of Chablis' most highly regarded Premier Cru vineyards. The vineyard is located in the very heart of Chablis and the town of Chablis itself is just to the north. Montee de Tonnerre is split only from the Grand Cru vineyards by a narrow ravine where the iconic white soils of Blanchot are visible from the hillside here. This proximity to Chablis' most famous vineyards has contributed to Montee de Tonnerre's excellent reputation and relative fame among Chablis Premier Cru climats. It's wines can now be found all over the world!

Other Reviews....
Very attractive, fresh peach and lemon aromas here with some gentle, biscuit and pastry-like, savory nuances. The palate has very expressive and mouth-filling white peaches and lemons with toasted-hazelnut flavors that warm the long, succulent finish. An excellent Montée. Drink or hold.

The 2017 Chablis Montée de Tonnerre 1er Cru comes from 2.2-ha of vine, harvested around 22hl/ha. It has a crisp, slightly floral bouquet with oyster leaf, dill, fresh citrus fruit and a touch of wet limestone. The palate is lively and fresh in the mouth and shows a little more depth and concentration than the Mont de Milieu. It flows and fans out nicely towards the finish and should offer several years of drinking pleasure.

An elegant, pure and airy nose combines notes of white flowers, citrus, lemon-lime and plenty of classic Chablis character. There is also excellent volume, density and power to the refined medium-bodied flavors that presently are not quite as complex as they usually are on the lingering finish. The underlying material however appears to be first-rate and as such my predicted range offers the benefit of the doubt that more depth will develop with time. *Sweet Spot, Outstanding*
