2017 De Bortoli Villages Tempranillo Touriga

A delightful blend of 51% Tempranillo, 44% Touriga Nacional and 5% Grenache that saw 15% whole bunch inclusion. Maturation took place in 500 litre French oak puncheons of which 10% was new for a period of 10 months.

Totally opaque black dark red core with a deep dark red black tinged hue. Elevated aromas of dark to black cherry, dark plum and liquorice overlay vanillin cedar, some earth and spice. Medium bodied the palate boasts a juicy flavour profile of dark and black cherries, liquorice and dark plums which meld into traces of dark chocolate, vanillin cedar, light earth and spice. Well balanced fresh acidity with very polished yet sturdy tannins. Solid depth with a long dark to black cherry, liquorice, subtle dark chocolate, spicy vanillin cedar and faint earth aftertaste. A very well made blend that has plenty of savoury appeal to it.
Drink over the next 4-5 years.
