New comer Julia Weirich in collaboration with the Sons of Eden boys, has produced a superb follow up to the much lauded inaugural 2016 release. Julia is German in heritage but gypsy at heart, having worked all over the world, honing her skills in wineries including Bass Phillip in Australia, Yealands in New Zealand, Le Grappin in Burgundy and Mulderbosch in South Africa. Upon returning to Australia she set about making wine for herself with the help of the well-known dynamic team behind Sons of Eden.

Fruit was sourced from the Barossa Valley (55%) and Eden Valley (45%) with the Eden Valley portion seeing 10% whole bunch inclusion. Each vineyard parcel was fermented and matured separately with aging taking place in a range of seasoned oak barrels for a period of 12 months.

Rich, juicy and finessed with a refined opulence to the slippery textured mouthfeel.

Totally opaque black as night core with a deep dark red black tinged hue. Very pronounced and quite perfumed nose with dark plum and liquorice aromas laced with subtle clove and fresh herbs evolving from the glass. Lightly smoked vanillin cedar, fennel and pepper notes also chime in. Rich and savoury with a supple, velvety textural feel, juicy dark plum and liquorice flavours fill the medium to full bodied palate. Kicking in on the finish are lightly smoked vanillin cedar, fennel and spicy pepper characters. Silky smooth tannins and fresh acidity with succulent dark plum, liquorice, vanillin cedar, fennel and pepper flooding a lengthy conclusion.
Cellar 5-6 years.
Alc. 14.5%
