John Vickery is a legend of the Australian wine industry and is widely acknowledged as the old master of Riesling. His illustrious career spans over 50 years at the likes of Leo Buring and Richmond Grove during which time he amassed more than 50 Trophies and over 400 gold medals. He was also responsible for the re-introduction of screw caps with his 1998 Richmond Grove Watervale Riesling. Vickery wines are made in collaboration with Philip Lehmann, son of Peter Lehmann.

Brilliant pale straw colour with greenish tinged edges and a watery hue. Aromas of lime and citrus laced with chalky talc characters rise from the glass followed by orange rind and mineral notes. The palate is rich displaying terrific fruit intensity with mouth watering flavours of lime and citrus prevailing over orange rind infusions and subtle talc with a crunchy mineral driven finish. Outstanding power and length with a very long lime, citrus, orange rind, talc and mineral aftertaste.
Drink now or cellar 5-6 years.
Alc 12.5%

Other Reviews…
EVR 153 ZMR. From 15-17yo low yielding vines from the Zander, Mason and Riley Vineyards, each parcel fermented separately in stainless steel before final selection and blending. Gleaming straw-green, classic young Eden Valley riesling, its citrus aromas and flavours on the midpoint between lime and lemon, the acidity flowing calmly on in the wake of the fruit, purity the watchword. Drink by 2031.
