Sourced from vineyards located in Geelong, Ballarat and Henty. Deep dark red colour with a tinge of black to the edges and a dark red hue. Pronounced ripe dark cherry and strawberry scents are married to anise with elements of forest floor, dried meats and spicy cedar ensuing. Light to medium weight with a savoury quality to it the palate dishes up ripe dark cherry and strawberry flavours which overlay some plum, anise, forest floor characters and spicy cedar. Slightly dryish but fine grained tannins. Aftertaste of spicy dark cherries, plums, forest floor, scorched cedar and dried meats.
Cellar 5-6 years.
Alc. 13.2%

Other Reviews…
76% Geelong, 22% Ballarat, 2% Macedon, hand-picked, open-fermented with 30% whole bunches, matured for 10 months in French oak (25% new). A beautifully balanced pinot, which shows the influence of the relatively small Ballarat component. There is a tantalising brushstroke of smoky spice before the complex array of red and black cherries form the base of the fruit flavour, oak and tannins spot on. Drink by 2026.
