2016 Pierre-Marie Chermette Griottes Beaujolais

Les Griottes means ‘the small cherries’ in reference to the grove of cherry trees that flank the vineyard. This entry level cuvée is drawn from 20-40 year old vines grown on dark, granite soils around the Chermette homestead in Saint-Vérand (central Beaujolais). Excellent depth displaying a bright purple red core with a vibrant purple hue. Very perfumed nose with fragrant top notes of fresh roses intermixing with ripe red raspberries and strawberries followed by light earth and spicy fresh herbs. Lighter bodied with a delicious ripe flavour profile of red raspberries and strawberries dominate over subtle earthy incense infusions and spicy fresh herbs. Supplely textured with a bright dry finish and velvet smooth tannins. Aftertaste of red raspberries, strawberries, subtle earthy incense infusions and spicy fresh herbs.
Drink over the next 2-3 years.
