Tasmania, AUSTRALIA
$54. 99
Bottle
$659.88 Dozen
Cellar: 6 - 8 Years (2024-2026)
ABV: 13%

Semi translucent dark red colour with a bright crimson red hue. Perfumed aromas of violets, ripe red to dark cherries and strawberries fill the nostrils followed by notions of anise, a subtle meatiness and spicy cedar. Light but powerful the delicious, supplely textured palate is driven by ripe red to dark cherries, strawberries and subtle red currant flavours which marry into elements of anise, forest floor and spicy cedar. Velvet smooth tannins and perfectly balanced acidity, fanning out beautifully to a long savoury finish.
Cellar 6-8 years.
Alc. 13%

Other Reviews…
There is a slight lift on the bouquet from partial barrel fermentation and long lees contact. This is a fitting complement to the power of the primary fruit flavours of strawberry and fresh berry compote. There is a softness to this Pinot Noir, the silky or satin like tannin-structure is first rate, with just enough back-palate weight from stalk use and light French oak, to hold its length. Drink by 2029.

From winemaker Peter Dredge: “Two different picks on the one block. One early for vitality, second for texture. 7T of chilled fruit destemmed to 3 different open fermenters with varying whole cluster % if any. 100% whole berry. Cold soak 5 days, natural ferment, pump overs only, pressed at 2 baume to tank and French oak barrique (15% new) the following day to finish ferment on heavy lees. Unfined, unfiltered.”
Straight into excellent territory here. This is why we’re so lucky in Australia: we get this level of pinot noir for $55, which isn’t cheap in general terms but in a world pinot noir context is a steal. So complex, so satiny, so well framed, so persistent. Woodsmoke, sulphur, tangy red/black cherry, super-fresh strawberries and fistfuls of dry spice. Sinewy and satiny simultaneously. It will develop beautifully but personally I wouldn’t be able to resist right now. Drink 2017-2024+
