What was originally known for over 100 years as Ellen Street runs along the southern boundary of the Maxwell vineyards. Situated between this road and the winery is a small vineyard of craggy, gnarled Shiraz vines planted in 1953. Every year these vines bear some of the most concentrated fruit on the Maxwell estate. The wine was matured in a combination of American and French oak hogsheads for 24 months.

Impenetrable inky black colour with a very deep dark red black tinged hue. Heady ripe blackberry, liquorice and dark chocolate aromas waft from the glass with vanillin oak, subtle mocha and spice in tow. Dense and super rich, this lavish Shiraz is jam packed with irresistible blackberry, dark plum and liquorice fruit underpinned by elements of vanillin oak, subtlety earthed dark chocolate and spice. Velvet smooth, immaculately polished tannins. Opulent, powerful and very long it concludes with a hedonistic ripe blackberry, dark plum, liquorice, dark chocolate, subtle earth and spicy vanillin oak finish.
Drink over the next 5-6 years.
