2016 Kilikanoon Covenant Shiraz

Matured in French oak hogsheads for 20 months. Dense inky black colour with a very deep dark red black hue. Intense liquorice and black cherry aromas are trailed by some blackberry, smoky vanillin cedar elements, black olive and blackpepper. Rich black cherry and liquorice flavours dominate the full bodied palate underpinned by smoky vanillin cedar, traces of fennel, subtle black olive and pepper. A robust tannin structure provides the framework. Excellent length and power with a long aftertaste.

This is a superb Big Red. Very deep, dense red/purple colour, with a rich, ripe blueberry, blackberry and dark-plum bouquet laced with walnut, bayleaf and black olive, tapenade notes coupled with varietal spice, its massive flavour explodes in the mouth. Stunning power, richness and concentration, the supple tannins dancing around a huge core of sweet fruit. (Screw-cap). Drink now to 22 years.
