A fascinating look at Josh Cooper’s various shiraz wines had me high fiving myself. What a stellar set of wines these are, and a maturity beyond the vin de soif culture that dominates the avant-garde sect of Australian wine producers at present. Serious wines. Love it. Delicious!
This is definitely in a leaner, spritely, greener-herby, lithe spectrum of shiraz, almost pushing the friendship a little far (and it will for some), but I found the wine compelling, loaded with its spice and garrigue, firm dark fruit character and general succulence. That being said, sour and bitter are words dotting the landscape, as would be amaro, so there’s the caveat, but it is excellent in its way.
