2016 Hentley Farm Shiraz

Magnificent colour saturation pouring an impenetrable inky black purple with a very deep bright dark purple hue. Pronounced aromas of blackberry juice and plum juice intermixed with inky liquorice and notions of earth are followed by vanillin cedar and spice. Rich yet elegant and possessing a youthful exuberance this Shiraz has loads of potential but requires some time to settle in. Like so many wines in today’s market it has been released far too early. Mouthfilling flavours of inky blackberries, dark plums and liquorice flood the palate over vanillin cedar, earth and spice. Bright acidity gives the wine its vibrant feel. Slightly dryish fine grained tannins concluding with a long aftertaste of freshly crushed blackberries, dark plums, liquorice, vanillin cedar, inky earth and spice. Too young and bright at present this needs at least 6-8 years in the cellar.
