Cellar: 6 - 8 Years (2023-2025)

Third generation winemakers Tom and Sam Barry of Jim Barry fame run the Clos Clare operation. This is their ninth vintage from Clos Clare's Riesling patch of 46 year old dry grown vines which adjoins the historic Jim Barry 'Florita' vineyard in Watervale.

Brilliant water like colour with a light greenish tinge around the edges. Pronounced lemon and lime top notes sit over some green apple, talc and a hint of mineral. Concentrated lime and citrus flavours are interspersed by racy acidity with green apple and talcy mineral also present. Dry steely finish showing great focus. Long lime, citrus, crunchy green apple, talc and mineral aftertaste.
Cellar 6-8 years.
Alc 12%

Other Reviews….
Almost cumin spiced top note over lemon barley, lime and lillies. Intense acidity and burst of lemon/lime flavour, firm chalky texture, a sort of lavender perfume wafting in the finish, but it’s mouth-watering in the main, and quite powerful. Good wine this vintage, though I’d say it needs a couple of years to soften. Drink 2017-2033.
