Matured in second and third use French oak barrels for 14 months. Totally opaque midnight black core with a deep dark red black hue. Nosing offers up aromas of ripe black cherry, liquorice and blackberry which meld into vanillin oak, light scorched earth and spice notes. Rich black cherry and liquorice flavours flood the mouth giving it an opulent full bodied feel. Spicy vanillin cedar, subtle scorched earth, dried meat and pepper elements sit beneath. Firms up on the finish with robust tannins imparting a sense of chewiness on the medium to long aftertaste.
Cellar 6-8 years.
Alc. 14%

Other Reviews….
Almost impossible not to admire this. It has grunt and weight but nuance and savour-spice are also well and truly in the frame. The syrah tag is apt. Redcurrant and blackberry flavours are equally well represented, the nuance coming via wood smoke, earth, clove and nougat flavours. It will mature handsomely. Drink by 2035.
