2016 Buller Wines Balladeer Rutherglen Durif

A sizeable Durif with plenty of richness and force.

Matured for 12 months in American oak. Impenetrable pitch black colour with an equally deep black dark red hue. Pronounced liquorice, black and Morello cherry aromas sit over notes of vanillin oak and spice. Rich, weighty and densely textured, ripe black cherry, liquorice and Morello cherry flavours swamp the mouth with vanillin oak, earth and spice elements also apparent. Ripe chewy tannins give the finish some grip. Good length with a medium to long black fruit, liquorice, vanillin oak and spice aftertaste.
Drink over the next 5-6 years.
