2015 Watson Family Vineyards Cabernet Merlot

The Watson Family label is the new range of entry level wines from the iconic Woodlands winery which was established by the Watson family in 1973. The Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot fruit for this wine was sourced from the southerly Wallcliffe region, which produces very elegant aromatic wines with gravelly tannins. Maturation took place in French oak for 12 months.

Opaque dark red black colour with a bright crimson red hue. Pronounced ripe blackcurrant top notes overlay traces of mulberry, subtle cedary tobacco characters and bay leaf. Medium bodied with a fresh elegant mouthfeel the palate dishes up generous yet youthful flavours of red currants, black currants and mulberry subtlety infused with bay leaf, cedary tobacco characters and a touch of spice. Well integrated fine grained tannins. Medium to long red and blackcurrant, mulberry, cedary tobacco characters and subtle spicy bay leaf aftertaste. Excellent value.
