Aged in French oak barriques for 11 months. Totally opaque black dark red core with a bright dark red black tinged hue. A peppery nose of dark berries and subtle liquorice infused with dried meats is followed by some graphite and spice. Medium weight with a typically elegant cool climate mouthfeel the palate is filled with blackberry and liquorice flavours laced with pepper over a meaty backdrop. Some subtle spicy vanillin cedar ensues. Has excellent length along with an understated richness. Slightly chewy but fine grained tannins combine nicely with well balanced acidity. Long peppery aftertaste of liquorice, blackberries, dried meats and spicy cedar.
Cellar 6-8 years.

Other Reviews….
PT23 clone, hand-picked, machine bunch-sorted, destemmed, wild yeast open-fermented, 3 weeks on skins, matured for 11 months in French oak (30% new). Bright crimson-purple; ticks each and every box you can think of, the red fruits (predominantly cherry) of the bouquet effortlessly glide across and along the medium-bodied palate, the texture supple, indeed silky, the balance impeccable. Drink by 2029.
