2015 Tenuta Ulisse Amaranta di Ulisse Montepuliciano d'Abruzzo

This Montepulciano was awarded ‘Best Italian Red Wine’ by Italian wine critic Luca Maroni who rated it 99 points. Superb colour displaying an impenetrable inky black core with a very deep dark purple black hue. Sailing from the glass are intense inky black cherry, liquorice, dark plum and blackberry aromas followed by vanillin oak, earth and spice. Rich and full bodied, like last years release there’s a hefty dose of vanillin oak which some will find a distraction to the lavish dark, liquorice and blackberry fruit. Slightly firmish tannins finishing with a dash of earth and spice. Excellent concentration with a medium to long aftertaste of spicy vanillin oak, dark plum, liquorice, blackberry and earth.
