The 2015 vintage on the Mornington Peninsula was exceptional for Pinot Noir and has many winemakers jumping out of their skin with excitement. Dry conditions and mild temperatures created a long even ripening process. Approximately 7% of the fruit was fermented as whole bunches with maturation taking place in French oak (15% new) and a portion of it in stainless steel tanks to preserve the vibrant fruit characters of the vintage.

A deliciously moreish Pinot with an outstanding power wave that’s hard to resist even at this youthful stage of its evolution

Semi-translucent bright dark red colour with a dark crimson red hue. Pronounced aromatics of ripe dark cherries and strawberries laced with anise jump out of the glass seducing the senses followed by a faint meatiness and spicy cedar. Fleshly and vibrantly fruited what this Pinot currently lacks in complexity is more than amply compensated by its richness and power. Generous mouth-filling flavours of ripe dark cherries and strawberries overlay some anise, a touch of meatiness and spicy cedar. Supple, velvety tannins with a long conclusion of anise infused ripe dark cherries, strawberries, some meatiness and spicy cedar. If this is any indicator as to the quality of 2015 Mornington Pinot, then lookout for some spectacular wines to come.
