Named after Stuart Blackwell, senior winemaker at St. Hallett since 1973, this is yet another superb release under the Blackwell label. The fruit is sourced from the North West Parishes of the Barossa Valley – Ebenezer, Greenock and Seppeltsfield where the vines are typically low yielding producing highly concentrated berries. Maturation takes place in a combination of one to three year old American oak barrels for 24 months.

Rich and polished this is an incredibly stylish Barossa Shiraz laden with gorgeous, silken layers of fruit.

Superb impenetrable inky black colour with a very deep dark purple black hue. The wonderfully aromatic nose dispels scents of blackberries, liquorice and to a lesser extent ripe black cherries over some dark plum, vanillin cedar and blackpepper. Rich, slippery and powerful yet still possessing Blackwell’s hallmark finesse, plushly textured flavours of blackberries, liquorice and dark plums burst out of the blocks soothing and caressing the palate. Nuances of black cherries, lightly smoked vanillin cedar and blackpepper follow on. Showing great poise, perfectly integrated acidity is in union with velvet smooth tannins to carry the fleshy black fruit magnificently. Excellent structural framework. Long blackberry, liquorice, dark plum, subtle black cherry, smoky vanillin cedar and blackpepper aftertaste.
Drink over the next 6-8 years plus.
