2015 Sons of Eden Pumpa Cabernet Sauvignon Shiraz

Pumpa is Sons of Eden's tribute to one of the pioneers of Eden Valley viticulture, Len Pumpa. A blend of 56% Cabernet Sauvignon and 43% Shiraz, a dash of (1%) Tempranillo has also been included to add a subtle savoury nuance to the wine. Maturation took place in a mix of new and seasoned French and American oak hogsheads for 15 months.

Loaded with gorgeous layers of fruit this outstanding blend strikes a harmonious balance between finesse and power.

Totally opaque black dark red colour with a deep dark red hue. Powerful ripe blackcurrant, blackberry, subtle liquorice and plum aromas leap out of the glass overlaying a back drop of lightly toasted vanillin cedar and spicy dried herbs. Supple, finessed and lithe with medium to full body weight and abundant richness the palate is endowed with generous ripe fruit flavours of blackcurrant, mulberries and liquorice underpinned by savoury cedary tobacco characters, dried herbs and spice. The Cabernet component clearly dominating the flavour profile of the wine. Velvet smooth mouthfeel with refined, perfectly integrated tannins. Excellent power and length with a long finish of spicy blackcurrant, ripe mulberries, a dash of liquorice, cedary tobacco characters and dried herbs.
