2015 Serafino Cabernet Sauvignon

Totally opaque midnight black core with a deep dark red black tinged hue. Pronounced ripe blackcurrant aromas meld into some liquorice and cigar box notes with hints of black olive and dried herbs ensuing. Medium to full bodied with ripe blackcurrant flavours to the fore, some liquorice and cigar box characters then move in on the back palate finishing with black olive and spicy tobacco elements. Slightly dryish finish with sturdy yet fine grained tannins. Aftertaste of blackcurrant, subtle liquorice, cigar box, black olive and spicy tobacco. Trophy winner at the 2017 McLaren Vale Wine Show.

This is pinch-me-I’m-dreaming stuff. An outstanding, multiple-gold-medal cabernet at less than $30. Deep colour, cedar, violet and blackberry aromas with a high note of fresh herbs, the palate rich and fruit sweet with soft tannins. Very smart and great value. Drinks well now. Will cellar to 20+ years.
