2015 Paul Osicka Heathcote Shiraz

Heathcote, Victoria, AUSTRALIA
$29.99 Bottle
  • Cellar 6 - 8 years (2022-2024)
  • ABV 14.5%

After a couple of challenging vintages in the early part of this decade Paul Osicka has hit a high note with this outstanding Heathcote Shiraz, son Simon now at the winemaking helm. Fruit was sourced from single vineyard with 60 year old dry grown Shiraz vines. Shiraz grown on different soil types was picked and fermented separately in small open top pots. With extended time on skins the wine was pressed and then matured in French Oak for 16 months, including 25 % new oak.

A rich, beautifully structured Paul Osicka Shiraz that hails back to the good old days of this iconic Heathcote producer.

Totally opaque black dark purple colour with a deep dark purple hue. Pronounced aromatics of blackberries, dark plum and liquorice drift from the glass with background notes of vanillin oak, faint earth and spice. Rich, perfectly ripened blackberry and dark plum flavours roll across the palate in charismatic fashion underpinned by a crushed rock like structure with the muscular tannins largely concealed by the lavish nature of the fruit which imparts a supple velvetiness to the mouthfeel. Liquorice and graphite like characters are also present concluding with spicy pepper. Classic Heathcote power with a very long aftertaste of ripe blackberries infused with liquorice, dark plums, toasty vanillin oak, a hint of earth and spicy pepper.
Cellar 6-8 years.
Alc 14.5%
