2015 On The Wing Shiraz

On the Wing is the entry level wine from Tim McNeil that takes its name from Tim's hey days in the late 1980s as a young footballer sporting a blonde mullet, playing on the wing for the mighty Norwood Redlegs. This young rookie stars delivering the full bodied flavour and flamboyance of an inspirational wingman. Matured for 24 months in 10% new French oak and older hogsheads.

Dark, potent and deeply flavoured this is a big lavish Clare Shiraz that delivers terrific value.

Black as night core showing excellent depth of colour with a deep dark red black hue. Heady scents of dark and black plums, liquorice and dark chocolate waft from the glass over lightly toasted vanillin oak and spice. Full bodied with a plump velvety textural feel and superb richness the mouth is awash with rich succulent black fruits that include blackberry, dark plum and chocolate bullets over subtlety toasted vanillin oak. Finishes with a lick of spice. Very polished, silky smooth tannins. Excellent power with a long ripe blackberry, dark plum, liquorice, chocolatey vanillin oak and spice aftertaste.
Drink over the next 4-5 years.
