The Oliver family have been growing grapes in McLaren Vale since the 1840s. Their descendants arrived from Scotland and settled in the McLaren Vale district, raising sheep and cattle as well as establishing an orchard and vineyard. Today, the emphasis still remains on growing super premium quality grapes for other winemakers (around 85% of their production is sold to the likes of Penfolds) whilst a small portion of the best fruit is retained for sale under their own Oliver's Taranga label.
Made from vines aged between 7 and 70 years old the 2015 vintage was one of the earliest and fastest on record for the Oliver’s. The crops were very small which resulted in exceptional intensity of flavour.

Rich and sleek with opulently textured, chocolatey fruit engulfing the palate.

Superb impenetrable inky black core with a very deep dark red black hue. Pronounced aromatics of liquorice, dark chocolate and dark plum flourish out of the glass underscored by vanillin oak and spicy mocha. Lavishly rich the plushly textured palate is decorated with mouthfilling flavours of liquorice, blackberries and dark chocolate infusions which sit over a back drop of subtlety toasted vanillin oak and spicy mocha. Velvety like mouthfeel and tannins. Excellent concentration and power with a long conclusion of liquorice, blackberry, dark chocolate, vanillin oak and spicy mocha.
Very drinkable now but will also reward 5-6 years cellaring.
Alc 14.5%
