2015 Mr Riggs Piebald Syrah

The 2015 vintage is the first time Ben Riggs has employed 100% Adelaide Hills Syrah fruit in the Piebald. His aim is produce a feminine cool climate Syrah using whole bunches that strives for fragrance, spice and elegance. He achieves his aim admirably with this beautifully crafted effort.

Totally opaque inky black core with a deep dark purple black hue. Fragrant and pretty the nose offers up liquorice and blueberry top notes infused with hints of clove which overlay some vanillin cedar and spicy pepper. Elegant and spicy yet rich and alluring, the mouth is filled with concentrated flavours of liquorice, black cherries and blueberries cascading over a backdrop of spicy toasted vanillin cedar and some meatiness with a blackpepper infused finish. Finely grained, yet structured tannins are beautifully integrated with the fruit. Long conclusion of liquorice, spicy dark cherries, vanillin cedar, some meaty characters and pepper.
