2015 Mr Riggs Outpost Coonawarra Cabernet Sauvignon

The fruit for this excellent Cabernet Sauvignon was sourced from one of Coonawarra’s top growers - Michael Wetherall’s, Wetherall Estate. Picked on different days and from different blocks to allow for optimum ripening and multiple blending options, parcels of fruit for the Mr. Riggs 2015 "Outpost" Coonawarra Cabernet were separately fermented in 5 tonne open fermenters. On skin fermentation was completed before pressings were sent to barrel to complete fermentation in a 30% new French and 5% American oak combination.

Excellent colour displaying a totally opaque black dark red core with a deep dark red black tinged hue. Lifted blackcurrant and mulberry aromas intermingle with a hint of liquorice overlaying subtle cigar box infusions and spice. The palate is overflowing with rich blackcurrant fruits cleverly weaved into nuances of mulberry and liquorice which overlay a backdrop of cigar box, traces of black olives and spice. Seamlessly integrated tannins provide an excellent framework for the fruit to work around. Long aftertaste of blackcurrant, mulberry, subtle cigar box, black olive and spice.
