2015 Monte Tondo San Pietro Valpolicella Superiore

Deep dark red colour with black tinged edges and a red to dark red hue. Aromas of ripe dark cherries intermix with a hint of liquorice and dried cherries over subtlety scorched earth, old cedar and light dried herbs. Soft and fleshy with abundant dark and dried cherry fruit richness, elements of earthy cedar, dried herbs and light spice are also apparent. Bright well balanced acidity. Supple tannins with an aftertaste of ripe dark cherries, dried cherries, earthy vanillin cedar and spicy dried herbs.
Drink over the next 3-4 years.

Tasted 26/07/2017: Produced from a blend of 55% Corvina, 30% Rondinella and 15% Molinara grapes. Deep dark red colour with black tinged edges and a dark red hue. Vibrant aromas of ripe red cherries, red raspberries, plum and hints of dried cherries flow from the glass followed by traces of dried herbs, earth and spice. Light to medium weight the palate has plenty of freshness with ripe dark cherry and red raspberry flavours overlaying vanillin cedar, traces of earth and spicy dried herb infusions. Bright finish with very fine grained well integrated tannins. Concludes with an aftertaste of ripe dark cherries, raspberries, traces of dried cherries, vanillin cedar, light earth and spice.
