This wine is a 'declassified' Barolo sourced from Massolino's younger Barolo vines in Serralunga. When these vines are old enough they will help produce the Barolo proper. Some fruit from the older Barolo vines also makes it into this cuvee with aging taking place in large Slavonian oak casks for 18 months.
Deep dark red colour with a bright red to brick red hue. Nosing reveals ripe red and dried cherry aromatics as well as some strawberry which sit atop subtle notions of scorched earth, fresh herb infusions and spice. Fresh ripe red cherry, dried cherry and subtle raspberry flavours intermix with earthy infusions, herbs and spicy old cedar. Finishes dry with bright lively acidity and chalky tannins. Aftertaste of ripe cherries, dried cherries, raspberries, earthy old cedar, herbs and spice.
Cellar 4-5 years.
Alc. 14%
