2015 Katnook Estate Coonawarra Shiraz

Matured for 14 months in a combination of 91% French (18% new) and 9% new American oak barriques. Impressive pitch black core with a deep dark red black hue. The nose dispels aromas of black cherries and liquorice laced with toasty cedar, subtle black olives, dried meats and blackpepper. More forward than the nose would suggest, lush blackberry and liquorice flavours dominate over toasty vanillin cedar, some meatiness and blackpepper. Dryish finish with good underlying structure attributable to the fine grained sturdy tannins. Good length with a ripe blackberry, liquorice, toasty vanillin cedar, dried meats and blackpepper aftertaste.
