2015 Gibson The Smithy Shiraz Cabernet

Deep, voluminous and packed with polished rich dark fruit flavours this is an impressive blend from Barossa’s dirtman.

A blend of 60% Barossa Shiraz and 40% Barossa Cabernet Sauvignon matured for 20 months in a mixture of 60% French oak and 40% American oak barrels . Superb depth of colour with an impenetrable inky black core and a deep very dark purple black hue. An intense combination of blackberry, liquorice and blackcurrant aromas shaded by hints of tobacco flow through the olfactory senses with vanillin cedar, faint earth, subtle dark chocolate and spice ensuing. Full bodied with exemplary richness and a luxurious textural feel the palate is awash with opulent blackberry, liquorice and blackcurrant flavours which are underpinned by vanillin cedar, faint infusions of tobacco and spice. Beautifully interwoven, silky smooth tannins give the wine a very polished feel. Excellent depth with a long ripe blackberry, blackcurrant, liquorice, subtle dark chocolate, cedary tobacco character and spice aftertaste.
Drink over the next 5-6 years.
