Made in the Veneto region in Northeast Italy from the Prosecco grape variety, this sparkling wine is presently being discovered by more and more Australian winelovers, no doubt thanks in part to its ubiquitous presence in many Italian restaurants (Prosecco is a particularly good accompaniment with Italian antipasto, though it also works well with vegetable soups or soft cheeses). The wine comes in two main styles - 'frizzante' (slightly sparkling) and 'spumante' (fully sparkling), both of which are typically dry, light-bodied and softer than Champagne, with floral, stone fruit and almond-like flavours. This is an impressive example of 'spumante' Prosecco.
